Business Services

The Business Services department processes the District payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. All District requisitions for purchases are routed through Business Services. Special revenue grants, athletic funds, scholarship funds and other fiduciary fund types are monitored in this department.

BUDGET - The district annually prepares a budget to control fiscal operations for one year. Oregon Local Budget Law requires the appointment of a budget committee to review and approve the budget. The budget committee consists of the seven members of the board of directors and the seven members appointed by the board. INDEPENDENT AUDIT - Oregon Revised Statutes, Section 297-405 to 297.555 and 297.990, known as the Municipal Audit Law, require an annual audit by independent certified public accountants. The accounting firm of Pauly Rogers and Co., certified public accountants, was selected by the district's board of directors to conduct the district financial audit. In addition to meeting requirements set forth in state statutes, the audit was designed to meet the requirements of the Federal Single Audit Act of 1984 and related OMB Circular A-133. Click here to access the current and prior Medford School District financial reviews/audits.

AWARDS - The district has received awards for excellence in financial reporting for the past eight consecutive years from the Government Finance officers Association (GFOA) and the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). Receiving these awards is recognition that the District has met the highest standards of excellence in school reporting as adopted by ASBO.
